Today's Blessings

I was dabbling tonight with my thoughts and this is what I came up with!! God is good...and I thank him for EVERY day, especially the days when I can look back and see all the blessings that maybe I missed in the day! So, here was our day today...in poem form!!

I made it to the end of my day
And placed my son in bed.
“What in the world have I done today?”
Is what went through my head!

I looked around and saw
The files stacked up high,
The fabric intended for sewing,
And then I turned with a sigh.

The laundry that’s piled,
And the pictures for the books,
The bills didn’t even get paid
And the coats were not on their hooks.

The kitchen counters full of dishes
And shoes and socks were all around
The pillows were stacked on the floor
From the tent that was made on the ground!

“What in the world have I done today?”
I asked myself again,
For the house needs cleaning still
And this day is now at the end!

I thought through the day that wisped by
And wondered what did I do
I remember the morning time,
It started at 6:42.

I woke up to a little hand
Touching my face to wake me.
“I want to watch my t.v.
Can you turn it on for me please?”

In the morning, a walk to the park
Where playing and running were done.
Then on home for some lunch
And off to gymnastics for fun!

A trip back home for a nap,
Where my son fell asleep on the floor
While I starting filling out paperwork
To claim movers’ careless repoire.

I moved my son to the car,
Then to sleep in his stroller a while,
As I shopped for a baby gift
For a friend that is having a child.

Then off to meet some moms
For a dinner and fun for the kids.
A little adult conversation
Then back in the car again.

As I watched the setting sun,
I thought forward to the night,
And all the things that need to be done
As the day moves out of sight.

A bath for my son and playing
As I saunter to his room
And pick up the cars we pushed
And flew and made them zoom!

I pick up the socks and shoes
That now sat in his room on the floor.
I remembered how he put them on
And how he needs help no more.

After he was done splashing,
He turned to me and asked,
“Can you make me look like Joseph?”
After I dried him off from his bath.

Off to his room he went
Where he picked his jammies himself.
I helped get him dressed for bed
And then reading books from the shelf.

A Bible story and prayer
Scriptures to complete the night.
A hug, a kiss and some music
And then to shut out the light.

As I stepped out of the room again
I headed to the computer,
To complete that claim paperwork
And think about the future.

“What in the world did I do today?”
Was still in my head as a thought.
I played and jumped and hugged
And listened, smiled and taught.

Though the chair cover isn’t sewn,
And I have computer work to do,
The dishes need some scrubbing
And the clothes need to be cleaned too.

Tomorrow’s another day,
And this day is almost gone.
God has given me a blessing...
For today I helped my son.
